Job offers

Poland – Job vacancies up in August, but not for long, say economists (MSN)

September 12, 2022

More than 361,300 new job offers appeared in August on job portals and social networks in Poland. This is 5% more than the previous month, according to a study by the Adecco group and Grant Thornton, published in MSN.com. Katarzyna Zimińska, marketing and communications manager at Adecco Group, said the Polish labor market is “still trying to resist the crisis quite effectively”. Data from Adecco Group showed a 5% monthly increase in job openings in the construction sector, where companies continue to fill staffing gaps following the loss of Ukrainian workers. After drops in June and July, August also brought a monthly increase of 9% in the number of job openings in production. Maria Drozdowicz-Bięć, an economist at the Warsaw School of Economics, noted that the increase in the number of offers in August may have been caused by a stronger seasonal recovery than in July in the demand for employees. However, in the long term, there is no longer any reason for companies to be willing to increase employment, she added. Łukasz Kozłowski, chief economist at the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs, believes that given the less optimistic outlook for business, the August data can instead be treated as a temporary trend deviation.
