Orphan Girl, Helped by KTR, Lands 4 Big Tech Job Offers

Rachana and her relatives met with KTR on Monday.

Hyderabad:

A talented young woman who was helped three years ago by Telangana’s Minister of Information and Industries, KT Rama Rao, to pursue her engineering studies has now secured four job offers, and she thanked for his help on Monday.

Rachana, an orphan from a poor family, got provisional admission to a prestigious private engineering school in the city in 2019, but she didn’t have the money to pay tuition and accommodation.

A request had been posted on social media three days before the last date to pay the fee.

Mr. Rama Rao became aware of his situation and immediately responded to the request. He had met with Rachana and her relatives and granted financial aid for university expenses, his office said in a statement on Monday.

Rachana completed BTech in IT in June 2022. She now has software job offers from four top IT companies. As she holds an engineering degree, the BTech course had to be followed for three years compared to four years for those who join BTech after Intermediate (classes 11 and 12), he specifies.

Rachana and her relatives met with the minister on Monday.

She is from a village in Jagtial district. Orphaned as a child, she and her sister faced many hardships during their formative years. Rachana stayed in an orphanage while pursuing Class 10.

On Monday, Rachana became emotional when she met Mr. Rama Rao and tied a ‘rakhi’ to him. The young woman bought a personalized silver “rakhi” with the money she saved, according to the statement.

Mr. Rama Rao assured the graduate of further help in her future endeavours, including her dream of becoming a civil servant.

Rachana, who has overcome many challenges in her life, is an inspiration to young people from rural areas and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, he said.
