(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 4 – Prosecutors in Catanzaro have opened a criminal investigation into the case of a young black woman who was allegedly assaulted by an employer after demanding to be paid for work she did as a lava -dishes in his restaurant/bathing establishment.
The 25-year-old, whose name is Beauty Davis, broadcast the incident in which she appeared to be slapped live on social media via her phone.
Subsequently, Davis filed a complaint with Rifle Police, claiming she had physically assaulted.
The 53-year-old owner of the establishment in the Calabrian town of Soverato is being investigated for bodily harm, theft and threats, sources said.
Job offers are pouring in for the victim, who is from Nigeria and a mother of a young girl, her lawyer said on Thursday.
“A lot of job offers have been sent to me for Beauty just hours after the news broke and they are multiplying,” said lawyer Filomena Pedullà.
“It is a chorus of solidarity, including offers to start immediately, coming not only from this region but from all over Calabria”. (ANSA).
